- Create a safe environment. Every member of your team has to feel confident enough within their working environment to give their best every day, and to speak up about things that matter to them. Establish mutual trust between you and your team in order to encourage your team members to speak out.
- Don’t be afraid to take command. In some situations, leaders have to be able to make tough decisions that others would not be able to make. Don’t be afraid to get tough and make those difficult calls.
- Reward great performance. Notice when a member of your team works exceptionally hard, and let them know that you value their contributions. This doesn’t mean you’re handing out pay raises every other day, but it does mean helping every team member to feel valued when they deserve it.
